Lakers’ LeBron James reacts to historic NBA Finals moment

LeBron James is home from the playoffs and keeping a watchful eye on the 2024 NBA Finals between the Mavericks and Celtics, which was scheduled to start on Thursday night.

James spoke out on his Twitter account about a historic moment for the NBA that parallels the rise of women’s basketball stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese in a certain sense.

The James take came during a time when the Lakers franchise reportedly locked onto a NCAA Championship winning basketball coach instead of previous favored target JJ Redick. James also praised Mavericks star Kryie Irving during what was a fast and furious day in the news cycle.

James’ reaction came amid a historic night for Doris Burke, the longtime announcer who set a milestone for women with her appearance on tonight’s broadcast.

The Lakers forward and NBA all-time leading scorer James had words of ‘love and respect’ for Burke in a tweet released 23 minutes prior to the scheduled tip-off on Thursday night.

Important moment for our sport tonight. Love and respect to DB and everything she does to elevate all of us! You’re a 🐐! 🙏🏾🤎🫡

Fans react to LeBron comment, historic NBA moment
Fans reacted to Burke’s record-setting appearance with a wide range of comments that ran the gamut of emotions.

“Very deserving!!!” one fan said. “She may not be the most electric personality when calling the games but she always does it gracefully and has a wide span of knowledge.”

Another fan focused on the length of time it took for Burke to get her shot in the limelight.

“You know everything going on with the WNBA had something to do with this but it should have happened a long time ago,” another reader said in response to the Lakers legend.

“LeGoat has spoken,” another fan said with three goat emojis at the end of their message.

“Kyrie about to cook tonight, King,” another fan added.

James’ Lakers lost in the first round to the Denver Nuggets, a Western Conference foe the Mavericks did not have to play this postseason. The Mavericks have never won a championship while James’ Lakers have won 17 titles in their storied history, tied with the Celtics for first all-time.
