Dave Harris is the President of the Ringside Charitable Trust, an organization that supports warriors in retirement.
And Harris revealed that AJ – the trust’s ambassador – has contacted the charity to build care homes for former boxers.
The news prompted fans to praise Joshua – worth an estimated £175m – for his heartwarming gesture.
One person said: “I admire boxer Anthony Joshua very much, but AJ is an incredible person, with a heart of gold and I hope more people will follow his example.”
Another added: “Class from AJ.”
Women’s boxing pioneer Jane Couch posted: “Great news for this much-needed cause.”
One person posted: “Most incredible news and really hope something can be resolved.”
Joshua first revealed his intentions on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.
“They have to suffer alone, so we are talking about opening a nursing home,” he said.
“That will be part of my boxing legacy – that I gave something back to the sport that made me.”
He added: “The only thing I want is to maintain my health.
“Because your health is the most important thing you’re betting on.
“We could see it in the warriors as their health deteriorated, but we never really talked about it with each other. All we focus on is winning.”
Joshua has shown his kind side previously by donating to British Boxing during the coronavirus pandemic to help amateur boxing.
He also sent essential supplies to Nigeria during the lockdown.
Joshua, 34, is set to return to the ring in September with British opponent Daniel Dubois, 26, leading the charge to face him.
