“I think she could be dominating” – WNBA fans debate Kamilla Cardoso getting overshadowed by Angel Reese

WNBA fans are debating whether Angel Reese has overshadowed fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso. Despite Reese getting selected at No. 7, four places below Cardoso, she has been a huge part of the rookie narrative in the WNBA, as well as the Chicago Sky.

Reese’s numbers are better than Cardoso’s when it comes to scoring, rebounding, and blocking shots. However, Cardoso has played fewer minutes and has been more efficient from the field.

In a post, a fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote:

“Kamilla got screwed over being drafted by Chicago.”

This sparked a debate among WNBA fans on the social media platform.

Some fans said that Cardoso was playing fewer minutes on the floor because she could get more rebounds than Angel Reese, and could lower Reese’s per-game total.

“I think she could be dominating the WNBA,” a fan wrote.

“Do you know why they’re not playing her right because she gets a lot of rebounds and God forbid she takes any rebounds from Reese,” another fan wrote.

“I saw they benched her so AR could have another ‘record’. I think Kamilla is hitting her stride and that may bother someone,” a fan wrote.

Some fans said that while Cardoso was not getting enough credit in Chicago, she would become a dominant force alongside Reese in the future.

“She is helping Angel with her game and not getting credit for her accomplishments. Funny because those 2 would be a force to be reckoned with,” another fan wrote.

“She fits perfectly in Chicago. Her and Angel will be dominating for years there. Give her time,” another fan wrote.

However, some believe that Cardoso is not being robbed of her talent and is at the same level as Angel Reese.

“Y’all know Cardosa doesn’t always play mistake free basketball right?” a fan wrote.

“What team would have been a better fit? She’s a good/great rim protector, but a lot of the criticisms about Reese’s offensive game apply very much to Cardoso as well,” another fan wrote.

Although Kamilla Cardoso was drafted higher than Angel Resse, the latter had the opportunity to shine immediately when the season started. Cardoso had an early setback when she suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason, forcing her to sit out their first six regular season games. On the other hand, Angel Reese has played every single game for her team so far.

In the six games Cardoso missed, the team went 3-3. However, when she joined the lineup, record-wise, the Sky have been worse. In their last 14 games, they are 5-9.

It’s not all bad news for her though, as when it comes to efficiency on the floor, Cardoso has been excellent. She is averaging 8.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 25.4 minutes per game while shooting 44.3% from the field.

Angel Reese averages six more minutes (31.5), yet scores at a lower efficiency. In 20 games, Reese is averaging 14.1 points while shooting 41.8% from the field, with 11.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
