Diana Taurasi gave a shout-out to the late LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on her visit to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The Phoenix Mercury took on the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday in their last road game of the season. During her visit to the arena, Taurasi connected back to her roots.

Following the game, Taurasi did a brief interview with Nikki Kay, the courtside reporter for Spectrum SportsNet. In her interview, she gave her flowers to the Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and the city of Los Angeles.

“I grew up watching the greats here, I got to play here, I got to honor Kobe here, my whole family is from here, we migrated here forty years ago, this is home,” Taurasi said.

The WNBA veteran also gave an insight into the reason behind the Mercury’s great team chemistry.

“We like each other, you know, in this league, there’s ups and downs, there’s wins and losses but we have stayed together through all that. We are gonna go through the playoffs and tryna make a splash,” she added.

The Phoneix Mercury have a 19-20 record this season and are locked at the seventh position in the overall WNBA standings. The Mercury will take on the Seattle Storm in their last game of the season at the Footprint Arena on Thursday.

Diana Taurasi drops hints about retirement after a two-decade career

Diana Taurasi might have played her final game in her hometown of Los Angeles. After the Mercury secured an 85-81 win, Taurasi spoke about her retirement plans.

“I don’t know. The last couple of weeks have been a little nerve-racking for myself. I don’t want to make any emotional, rash decisions. I know the end is near. When that is, I don’t know,” she said on being asked if this was her final season in the league. (via ESPN)

The WNBA veteran has had a career that has spanned over almost two decades. She is one of the oldest active players in the league.

She revealed that once the season was over, she would reflect on it and have a talk with her closest ones to make a decision. Diana Taurasi is averaging 15.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists this season.
