‘I’M A FIGHTER’ AJ confirms retirement decision following loss to Dubois in message to fans

Two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has pledged to continue his boxing career following a tough defeat to Daniel Dubois.

Joshua broke his silence with a heartfelt video message to his fans on Monday, choosing to focus on the positive aspects of his career despite the loss.

The 34-year-old boxer was knocked down four times during the match, where Dubois successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title in a fierce battle at Wembley Stadium. Despite the setback, Joshua remained resilient, expressing his determination to keep fighting.

“I’m a fighter for life,” Joshua declared in the ring after the surprising defeat. On Monday, he reinforced this message by addressing his 16.9 million Instagram followers, stating, “We came up short, but we have to focus on the positives. The journey we’ve had over the last 11 years has been incredible.”

Joshua expressed gratitude to his fans, acknowledging their unwavering support. He emphasized that while the road to a third world title hasn’t been easy, he remains confident in his ability to achieve it. “We’ve done it once, we’ve done it twice, and doing it a third time hasn’t been easy, but I believe it’s possible,” Joshua said. “We’ve got more to bring, so keep your seatbelts on.”

Joshua also took a moment to appreciate British boxing and called for unity, encouraging the sport to rise together. His determination to continue has garnered widespread support from fans, with one commenting, “Say what you want, this man changed the game and paved the way for big money fights for all other boxers.”

Despite the defeat, Joshua’s professional record stands strong at 28-4, and he remains open to a potential rematch with Dubois. Promoter Frank Warren has indicated that discussions could take place, leaving the door open for Joshua’s return to the ring.

However, some, like renowned SunSport journalist Colin Hart, have suggested that Joshua should consider retirement. Hart warned, “With his wealth and standing, any sane person would retire now and enjoy life in luxury.”

Joshua, who turned pro in 2013 after becoming a Team GB hero at the London 2012 Olympics, has already unified the WBO, IBF, and WBA heavyweight titles twice. Despite his latest defeat, he remains one of the sport’s most successful and well-respected athletes, with an estimated net worth of £175 million.

As speculation continues about his next steps, one thing is clear—Anthony Joshua isn’t done yet. Fans around the

world are eager to see what the future holds for the British boxing icon, with many hopeful that his resilience will lead to yet another remarkable comeback. Whether it’s a rematch with Dubois or a long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury, Joshua’s journey in the sport seems far from over. With his dedication, hard work, and the support of his fans, AJ’s fighting spirit remains unshaken, as he looks to climb back to the top once again.
