A surprise party was thrown for Anthony Edwards in Paris for his 23rd birthday and some big names were present.
Anthony Edwards turned 23 years old on the 5th of August and as you’d expect, a surprise party was thrown for him in Paris. There was no shortage of big names at the party, as the attendees included rapper Gunna, Alex Rodriguez, the U.S. men’s and women’s basketball team, and the gymnastics team.
The party was reportedly held at an Italian eatery named Giulia and family members were present too. Edwards appeared to particularly enjoy hanging out with Gunna, as the two were seen vibing together.
It sure looks like everyone in attendance had a blast. It appears Edwards also got a cake from USA Basketball on the occasion.
I am certain USA Basketball also appreciates how well Edwards has played at the 2024 Olympics. He is averaging a team-high 16.7 points to go with 3.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. The two-time All-Star’s best outing came against Puerto Rico in the final group stage game, as he recorded 26 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals to lead Team USA to a 104-83 win.
With that result, the U.S. secured the top seed in the knockout bracket and set up a clash with Brazil in the quarterfinals tonight. They are the overwhelming favorites in that contest and I think a fairly comfortable win is on the cards.
Anthony Edwards Speaks On Playing Alongside LeBron James And Kevin Durant
Prior to the Olympics, Edwards had spoken about just how eager he was to link up with his idol Kevin Durant. They say you should never meet your heroes, but the Minnesota Timberwolves star hasn’t regretted it one bit. Edwards got real on playing alongside Durant and LeBron James.
“It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of. Hell yeah. He and ‘Bron are the best two team people. They always want to see the person next to them shine. I’m the same way. It’s perfect.”
I am sure that Edwards would have learned a lot from Durant and James. They have been there and done that and are great examples to follow for any young player.
I think it’s safe to say now that 2024 has been the best year of Edwards’ life, from a basketball standpoint. He looks set to win a gold medal and that’s on the back of what was his best season in the NBA.
Edwards led the Timberwolves to a 56-26 record in 2023-24, which was good enough to finish as the third seed in the Western Conference. He averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game along the way to be named an All-Star and also made the All-NBA Second Team.
Come playoffs, Edwards also elevated his game, the way so many greats have done in NBA history. He led the charge as the Timberwolves stunningly swept Durant’s Phoenix Suns in the first round.
Edwards then helped eliminate the Denver Nuggets, the defending champions, in seven games to take the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals for just the second time in franchise history. That’s as far as they went, though, as the Dallas Mavericks eliminated them in five games.
Despite that setback, Edwards and the rest of the team had plenty to be proud of. The Timberwolves have now established themselves as one of the top dogs in the West and I wouldn’t be surprised if their young superstar takes them to the big stage at some point in the coming years.
