Devin Booker goes viral over live video of LeBron James during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

LeBron James made history as the first men’s basketball athlete to carry the U.S. flag for the Olympic Games. After the special occasion, LeBron’s teammate, Devin Booker, took to Instagram to compare the Lakers star to the legendary Captain America.

“That boy standing like Captain America boy ain’t he. That boy got posture boy. Stop playing with Bron Bron….he’s going crazy!”

Captain America is one of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes and he’s a symbol of American hope, freedom, and integrity. Apparently, that’s who LeBron looked like this week as the flag bearer for Team USA.

The Olympic Games are always a grand affair and the opening ceremony yesterday set the tone for the millions of fans and athletes who were watching. The USA, like every other team, made their entrance via boat and young star Devin Booker couldn’t help but admire the scene as it all played out.

Booker, 27, was one of the first invites to join the Team USA roster this summer. The 4x All-Star made a name for himself with the Suns, averaging 24.3 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game on 49.2% shooting. As one of NBA’s elite backcourt stars, Booker has been a fine addition to the US Olympic roster and he’s clearly on good terms with the unofficial team captain, LeBron James.

LeBron stood out in the rain to hold the U.S. flag, but it’s an honorary tradition that goes back many years. While no U.S. men’s basketball player had ever been given the honor, James was chosen for his excellent achievements in the sport and his status as one of the most successful and influential athletes in the country.

Of course, he’s also been the best player on Team USA this year. While the U.S. did go undefeated in exhibition games, they narrowly avoided a loss to South Sudan thanks to late-game heroics from the King. In 20.4 minutes per game, James was the leading scorer with an average of 14.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 60.9% shooting.

On Sunday, Lebron and the U.S. will get the first real battle in the ebooks, against Nikola Jokic and Serbia. The size and skill of The Joker could prove difficult to manage for Team USA but they have a big man of their own that they can use to counter his impact: Joel Embiid.

For now, it remains to be seen what happens with Team USA and their chase for the gold but LeBron’s legacy will remain unchanged regardless of the results. He made history in the Olympics this year and the fact that he’s even still playing at all at 39 years old is undoubtedly impressive.

Sadly, LeBron has already announced that this will be his last time in a USA jersey but he already made history in the opening ceremony yesterday. Now, all that’s left for him to do is end his Olympic career with a victory and ensure that the USA remains at the top of the basketball hierarchy.

With a team stacked full of stars, the odds are stacked in favor of the USA but nothing is a given. It will take hard work, determination, and a commitment to teamwork in order to beat out the competition but Booker, LeBron, Curry, Durant, and all the others are ready to do whatever it takes to win.
