Stephen Curry: “Playing With LeBron James Is Exactly How I Imagined It…”

Stephen Curry says playing with LeBron James has been a great experience.

As Stephen Curry experiences his first stint in the Olympic Games, he’s finally getting the chance to call himself a teammate of LeBron James. In their first team-up since the All-Star game, Curry says that LeBron has met every expectation.

“Playing with LeBron is exactly how I imagined it,” Curry said, via FIBA. “He understands the game at such a high level. He’s an all-time great. You get guys that know how to play on the court, usually good things happen.”

Steph Curry Remembers LeBron Watching Him in College

It’s been a welcome union between LeBron and Curry this summer. The duo have been the main attraction in the Paris Olympic games and have not lost a step with their play on the court. Of course, it’s weird to see them as teammates but they have learned to fully embrace the experience and have even recreated an iconic Dream team photo to immortalize the moment.

Curry, 36, has reached legendary status with the Warriors and his achievements as a pro made him a top recruit for Team USA this summer. With averages of 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game on 45.0% shooting last season he continues to maintain his status as one of the league’s top players.

Over the years, his success has brought him face-to-face with LeBron James, who found his own success with the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron and Curry aren’t just two of the generation’s refining stars, they are also considered by many to be fierce rivals having met four straight times in the NBA Finals.

Between their Finals matchups, their clashing styles of play, and their importance to NBA history, LeBron James and Stephen Curry are comparable to the Magic Johnson and Larry Bird of the modern generation.

And while their previous status as competitors is inarguable, it seems they have both grown quite fond of each other in recent years. After their latest encounter in the 2023 NBA playoffs, the two legends showed tremendous respect for each other and emphasized their contributions to the game.

Now, as partners for Team USA, they are doing the same to a whole new level. Since they’re fighting for the same cause now, LeBron and Curry are going the extra mile to get in synch and it’s been a beautiful thing to watch

Curry’s shooting and playmaking have provided a major boost to the USA and his presence alone has opened up the floor for all of his teammates. Meanwhile, LeBron James continues to turn back the clock with one great performance after another. He’s been the leader both on the court and off the court for Team USA and his buzzer-beating layup over South Sudan kept the USA’s undefeated record intact.

With the Olympics still to come, LeBron and Steph will have plenty more time to appreciate each other’s game but it remains to be seen how much longer they have left. After 21 years, James is surely near the end and the same could be said for Curry, whose contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.
